Is Tyson Fury hanging up his gloves for the last time?

On the 13th of January, BBC Sport reported that former world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury had announced his retirement from boxing.

Fury said, "I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing, it has been a blast, I've loved every single minute of it and I'm going to end with this; Dick Turpin wore a mask."

Is Tyson Fury finally hanging up his gloves?

Tyson has announced his retirement before and here he starts by saying, "I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing." "I'd like to announce..." can be considered contemplation and a potential intention.

It's akin to someone saying, "I'd like to say, I had a really good time," without simply saying, "I had a really good time".

The "I'd like to say" part is unnecessary and changes the potential meaning of the message. Tyson doesn't say, "I am retiring from boxing with immediate effect." This leaves open the potential of a big payday fight later in the year against either Anthony Joshua or Daniel Dubois.

Fury cannot be counted out just yet.
